I find this refreshing. Hopefully, the violence doesn't escalate much more, but equally I hope this continues

I just hope they return the power to the people when the coup is over. That would be a huge step in the right direction. Maybe other coutries in that region of the world follow suit. A government of the people would benefit that part of the world IMO.
If you're the smartest person in the room, then you're in the wrong room.
Agreed. I will go further. Maybe other countries all over the world would follow suit. And maybe those countries descending that slippery slope toward tyranny will get the hint. The anger of disregarded and disenfranchised citizens can explode surprisingly quickly.
Very much agreed.

Anyone else notice the 2 idiots in Tahrir square on the BBC news last night deliberately shining green pointers into the tv camera?
In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite - Paul Dirac
Thank god I live in a civilized democracy run by fools.

As more footage is made available I see more and more examples of use of lasers as in an assault capacity. Regardless of the moral issues for the reason of the marches Good or Bad. Its my opinion we will learn of many cases where MPE has been exceeded and people are having their eye sight effected permanently.
This is inevitable. We started with teeth and advanced to rocks. The evolution of lasers through these stages to weapons is only a matter of time and technology. We all loved Star Wars and it was a part of the appeal that the future will bring us more powerful tools. But, let's not start limiting individual freedom. Rather, let's expand INDIVIDUAL responsibility. If in their present incarnation, these really are as dangerous to the pilot as say a gun and as a pilot I mean REALLY then arrest or shoot the perpetrator as if he had fired a gun, successfully or not, at the helicopter.
I suspect dozens of people have died in this overthrow of the Morsi led government. I hope no more do, but this, I am sure is unrealistic. I am encouraged that despite my own government's naive and inappropriate involvement in the overthrow of Mubarak's government, that the Egyptians have a chance to build something better coming out of this.
