    Default KVANT RGB Module

Anyone had any experience with the KVANT RGB module ("http://www.synchrovision.co.uk/product/260-1500mw-340mw-637nm-240mw-515-1w-445nm-full-colour-laser-module-kvant")?

Do the beam sizes match and is the alignment good?
And is it the module they use in the Atom units?

    Regards,
    Mike

Based on a PM I just got, yes that sounds exactly like the Atom. I'm told the modulation was the best they had ever seen due to it being all diode.

If that was 1k usd I'd be all over it.

Are you sure its the same, especially as the Atom is their "cheap" unit?

Their Spectrums don't have all the same modules that they sell separately. They used to put cheaper modules in their projectors than what they sold as separate units. That doesn't mean the ones in their projectors weren't good, just that the separate units were often a little better. At least that's my understanding from what i was told by their tech where I made enquiries about my original green.

In all honesty, I'd also expect separate R, G, B units to be better as anything combined is usually a compromise. However if space is at a premium, then it represents a good solution and is probably good value vs the 3 separate modules although I haven't actually looked at pricing. Usually they are cheaper for a reason.

As for it being 1K US, that would be nice but it would also be just under 1/3 rd the current price and the same price as their 1W 445nm alone! Can't see it happening but we can but hope!

I have the atoms and the specs are all the same.
    same diodes same specs.

ony the 445nm give big over power.
on paper 1w. in reall about 1.4W
the red and green diodes are same.
good small beam, i never seen a better beam than this in a rgb laser.
and amazing colours with the 3 diode systems, perfect match for small clubs.
i used then in 25m rooms, really nice !
i have 1 last atom for sale 2400 euro with LM scanner give over 2W on my meter!

@ DJ Mike, I think if I had any concern it would be primarily about colour balance and then about alignment. I haven't a clue about the relative beam sizes.

Colour wise it looks quite purpley to me in videos for mixed colours / white (haven't seen it in person so it could just be camera effects, albeit there are a few videos on Youtube and all look similar to me). I think the likely cause is more likely the lack of green than the amount of blue, but I could be wrong. I just know my projector (1W 445, 680mw 637, 500mw 532) would love a little more green albeit I have 532 not 515. 637nm is quite powerful.

You may be able to tune it in the software but what the final overall power and balance would be like, I don't know. I'm going to guess you'd want to turn blue and probably the red down. As long as you have software that palette trains it should be possible.

On the adjustment, I have a combined R/B and its difficult to align precisely as it uses micro mounts. That said once aligned they don't budge but I couldn't get mine exactly spot on. In my opinion, you're better with separate modules and Thor adjustable dichros for precision adjustment. Thor labs mounts are so easy to adjust, takes seconds.

If you can't afford separate modules, then a combined unit shouldn't be discounted. Just be aware the alignment isn't as easy as with Thors.

    Modulation should be spot on.

    correct !
me to, i sell all the RB moduuls and only use separate modules and Thor adjustable dichros for precision adjustment.

i have some cool atom video's
then you see the nice colours and balance:
    enjoy
