Can you really use a q-switched laser for laser shows?? I always thought CW was the way to go, but perhaps the human eye can't see the switching. Also, I know how Mixedgas feels about this topic (using the handy-dandy search feature), so I can appreciate discretion in answering my questions. Nevertheless, this is an absurd amount of power for the price.

    You sure can!
Most cues look acceptable right off the bat when viewed as beams, but I've done some good "tuning" the scan speed of each individual cue based upon a set scan speed (24k) to remove the "marching ant" effect; but in all honesty, not really necessary.

http://a4.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/i...f583b98a/l.jpg (..yes, that's output from a Laserscope ..CW, in this pic, yes, but.. even Q'd, the beam-qual and blanking clarity is preeetty kickin' This particular mini-pj design would pair very-well with Dan's big flashlite, btw..

You can also make it all fit into one 'ball-buster' pj, ie: this one, for Installs: http://a4.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/i...1d54f2d5/l.jpg / http://a3.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/i...9ce0af66/l.jpg / http://a3.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/i...6b006f9e/l.jpg, etc, Although, that one had the 'pumpwerx / ALE, PS, etc in the little 'R2-D2', unit, there, but there is actually enough-space to cram it all into one big 'mothership'..

..Still, if you're willing to 'strain a nut' for it it does-seem the 'overall easier route' is a 'cart-version', etc, ie: http://a2.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/i...65dedcf8/l.jpg / http://a4.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/i...4f196d28/l.jpg / http://a1.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/i...69e72f1b/l.jpg, etc.. But, yeah - you can break these things down into some pretty-small, nicely-roadcased 'kit'.. (ie: our '3-piece design' is Head: 12" x 24" x 30", and each PS / Electronics; HEx/Pumpwerx roadcase, about 18" x 18" x 30" tall..

Yepper-dooper - ie: These are both 'Q-sw'd gfx: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1983959_n.jpg / https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n..._4383839_n.jpg ..(using the aforepictured 'mini XYB engine', etc.. reeealy-good results, (..for a KTP) But it depends on 'what you are projecting' / how 'complex', vs scan-speed, etc.. Also, (to some degree..) the Rep-rate / pulse-width on your Q-sw.. (tech-details for another discussion.. but, suffice to say, 'quazi-cw' is possible, and for aerials, really doesn't matter much.. in fact, sometimes, the 'pulse fingers' can actually enhance the look (ie: a simple scanned circle, becomes a pretty-cool 'beam-cone', with the pulse-fingers.. https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.n...1_661066_n.jpg

Well, there's really no objection to discussing these, 'in general', nor tips / techniques for doing stuff with them, etc - and I'm quite certain that the only 'motive' in any 'reservations' that certain-people have about posting on these, is specifically related to posting publically available 'how-to', info - particularly, conversion, etc, *here* (..yes, less-scrupulous people have already posted some of that info, on the web - however - much of that lackey-info is *incorrect* / not-ideal..) . And - No - it's NOT about 'anti-freedom of information' / quashing competition nanny-statery, etc, or any other-such past-launched 'accusations', at those that only vocalized support for 'smart-dispensation' of that information...

..it's more about a) the risk of liability, for publishing that info - here - that just anyone with internet can read / don't even have to be a reg'd member, etc - who (may) have neither the *experience*, training, nor 'qualifications' (which is really training + experience) nor a variance / cert'd pj, if-doing public shows, etc, and can just up and read / download, etc, then - go buy one of these beasts off ebay for (..way too cheap.. ) and they're off, slinging 40W (average power, with kiloWatt peaks (!)) around, with nary a clue of what they are doing. b) Also, about being 'responsible', by not being part-of 'enabling' people - (..who may or may-NOT have sufficient experience to handle these things w/o harming themselves / others / our precious good-FAA-relationships ) and encourage a 'flood' of these things out there on every-corner.. Again - it's NOT about 'anti-freedom of info', etc, but.. just like you would not, ie: just 'hand a totally-inexperienced 6 yr old a 44 Mag', and just say 'you be careful, now..', similarly, it's something to be shared - when someone is *ready* to handle it..

Anyhoo, once someone is either proved to be 'known-qualified', either thru industry-reputation or demonstrated-experience, or, is *directly-trained*, well then the 'info' / sharing flows freely..

Oh, PS - I do not post these pix as any-form of 'spam' only to 'inspire' / show some ideas for how Dan's very-fine 'Firefly from Hell' can be used, and, hopefully, help him get it sold for more than a bloody two-pence!

    cheers..
    j

    Price slash!

I urgently need the space; this has to go, so bumping this.
I could let it go for £850 if it can go within the next week.
    Grab a bargain!
