Sounds ideal... But, I suppose it will cost me an arm, leg, and a testicle? (...S-List Pricing.. Perhaps shoot me a PM for a 'turnkey' pkg... Won't have time for a full DIY project (unless it's just wiring / assy.) I've then got to chop it up into 14 equispaced / power beams, all static, on a rail.. For once, the ~9-10% reflectance of standard float-glass will actually be helpful.

    cheers..

(...and now what..) I wholly-agree with the super-badassness of the CV-Yellow, colorwise, etc, but , unless someone knows of a stockpile of easily-buyable tubes, for them, I'd be a bit redicent to recommend this as an option.. It's really a shame that they went under, as yes - those are really-righteous lasers.. and.. Gas!
I got a new tube from Spectronika just after they stopped operations. I was told at that time that new tubes could be obtained in the future. Recently I've tried getting in contact with Alexander regarding a new tube, but haven't had any luck getting a response. Perhaps a "Where have all the CuBr tubes gone?" thread is in order. The only other company I can think of that may still be making CuBr lasers for the display market is Pulslight.

Thanks Sir Robin... indeed, looks-so http://www.pulslight.net/lasers.php?lang=en ..but, that would be a 'last-resort' / IF they could 'deal' with something large-frame / footprint.. I'd prolly first-opt (if they were-willing..) for a KTP / dye-head route, since a) I could tailor the color, easily (..sometime, I've got to post up some of the yellows / oranges you can make with the 640.. omgooooo, beautiful.. and b) I can easily get a beam from those, into a fiber / deliver it up to a tiny-footprint Rail... that would even be 'smaller' than an OPSL-rig footprint, but... yeah, that fiber-delivered route comes with a pretty brutal 'tiger attached to it's tail'... ..So...

..Looks like there's a possible OPSL 577 package-solution avail, which will be the 'easiest', overall... all info with the Client, now.. Still a 'good excersize' to dig-up / post the source-411 on the CVs / CuBr's.. since yeah - they are sexy lil' beasties... cheers for the info..

Sadly, Client chose to 'go cheap'.. >_< ..Don't know how they propose to get this much pure Yello, in a nice, Cer't pj-format, for less than-quoted..
..maybe the 'competition' is planning to deliver 14 French's Mustard bottles, with a 1W white Cree in each, and a c@sio lens in the nozzle?

Oh well, Thanks for the replies, Gents.. Will advise if somehow they come to their senses / call us for the next-project requiring Yello..

I like this thread because despite your dead end, Jon it makes me think about the options. The Cu lasers do make a very nice light and it is a shame the sources have dried up. Nevertheless, a little investigation by those who own these or know about them might turn up some replacements. Although nowhere near the beam quality of an OPSL why not a fixed, mixed green 2W Laserwave ($1300) making 2.5W and a well built quad P73 putting out 4-5W ($700) combined with a 552nm Edmund beam combiner ($175)?
If this is not scanned then you can cheat the divergence issue with somewhat larger initial beams and the extra red will allow you the head room to dial in the color. Plus this is trivial for modulation.

Although I am working on a multi-watt 589 raman shifted DPSS this won't be around for a year and wont be as special ops tough as the Coherent. So, no-go there.

    'Thx, but.. the 'client-objective' was 14 perfectly-parallel static beams - (*not* a 'fan', ie: 'laser-harpy'...) each, about 1.5 - 2" apart, at-aperture (..'point of origin' - again, a no-go for galvo / blanking solution...)

..So, my solution (again, budget being a-factor, too..) would have been to take 2x 'ML-10s', and 'join them at the hip', with a fixed 'pass-thru port' then replace all the 'mirs' with 9-10% R pick-offs (some would need to be 'approx' 12%, and the last-one a 50/50..) which would yield a nice, 'even-spaced' rail, with a perfect 'base' for the OPSL / drivers / tec,s etc, and would afford shutter, and individual 'dimming' / on/off, via DMX (then, even a 'visiting event-DJ' could operate', etc..) Simple, elegant, Certified-bases and within-budget..

..SO, that would likely wreak-havoc, on a R/G-combo solution, both from a 'haloing / color-mix skewing' perspective (some beams might look more / less red or green, etc..) but I was also extrapolating that - by 'Position 10-14', those beams would be 'coming apart at the seams' / and the red, especially, would probably be photonic-oatmeal, at the end of the 20' throw to the term-points.. Clearly, a nice 'homogenous' OPSL yello (or, LS 600 dye, running / BRF'd to Y, for that-matter..) would have done the job, quite nicely..

..but, alas. Maybe 'next time'.. Looking forward to seeing those 589nm 'Raman noodles'.

The only other thing that comes to mind for a true yellow is a dye laser, but those get complicated and sometimes messy, right?

Oh yes, they CAN be, but they don't have to be. But, the pump is the problem. For watts of yellow the only practical source is a 400# LS.
