    Default Not another build thread!!!

As some of you in the UK already know, this has been a long time in planning, but finally my builds have started...

I am building 3 projectors around 5 watts each and as usual I'll be documenting them with photo's as I go along... Before I get into the details, I have to say a massive thanks to Simon (AKA P1t8ull) for designing and building the most spectacular modules known to man, and Dave (AKA Dave at Lasershow Parts) for the enclosures and all the amazing circuitry he has built for me...

    What's in the box?

    638nm red @ around 1.4 watts
    532nm green @ around 1.4 watts
    445nm blue @ around 2.1 watts
Each laser is around 4mm with 1Mrad divergence and the beam is a lovely shade of icy white, with a combined spot that is almost a perfect circle...

Scanning is provided by DT40 Pro's and the magic is provided by breakout boards built by Dave... The breakouts give the following list of functions...

Remote interlock along the ILDA cable
    Startup delay
DMX controlled colour intensity for each individual module in each individual projector
Shutter control, for my Pangolin actuators
    DMX controlled X/Y axis flips
    DMX controlled Red/Blue colour flips
DMX blanking, which allows for projector head chases
Two servo's holding drop down scan through diffraction gratings

The projector cases will have adjustable hardware masks for overhead shows and Pangolin safety lenses for audience scanned shows... I am also building a rack to control these beauties along with my other systems (2 watt GB's), the rack will contain 3 x QM2000.Net and a DMX Merger for all the clever tricks...

As you can imagine, there is a lot of work to be done, but thanks once again to Sir P1t8ull, we saw a beam last night...

Blurry iPhone pic of the 3 cases ready to be filled...

How bright??? This is hitting a black heatsink!!!

You can actually see the beam in daylight...

That lovely spot at around 28 Mtrs...

A red beam which could be seen for quite some distance. Shot's like this are a benefit of permanent CAA clearance due to a scientific laser firing at the moon just down the road from me ...

More to come as I get further into the project...

Very nice!!! Looking forward to how it progresses

I am particularly interested in terms of powers and white balance. I am building something with very similar "firepower"
Eager to see some scanned beams

Have fun building them mark and let us have fun alongside you via pics

    Hey Mark, very nice build!

Interested to know more about the green OEM... Is it a CNI OEM? Seems you used a telescope to lower divergence right?

Yes it is a CNI OEM, tiny little thing... Simon is the man to speak to, he added the telescope... The idea was to get all the beams pretty much the same in terms of diameter and divergence, and he certainly cracked it

Indeed the goal was reached, I rarely saw such a perfect RGB spot at 28 meters Nice work guys!

About these OEM modules, I can't find where to buy them, Dave doesn't seems to list them on its web shop...

I second the above plus i am not too clear on what they need to get lasing
(i managed to get some info a long time ago, from cni directly, but i couldn't clearly establish what else is needed so i dropped the project)

any insight would be greatly appreciated

Fantastic Mark. Think you'll have them ready for the LEM?

I read that you have choice to buy ones with TEC cooling, others without TEC. But some people accord to say that these power version are always without TEC.

What kind do you have?? Are they stable enough?

    Great beam spot .

Nice build Mark... And Simon is indeed the master of 'small' (well, along with Rob )

Look forward to seeing it in the flesh, will it be ready for ShowLEM?

    Cheers
