Default BBC's Fake Britain: Illegal Laser Pointers

Interesting article on illegal laser pointers that was broadcast on the Beeb. As well as the helicopter pilot, it has the poor sod that was flashed in the face with a pointer, and later in the program Dr John O'Hagan showing the 700mW 'pointer' that was tested as part of 15,000 pointer stash in Lancashire.

This link will probably only work for UK IP addresses.

(Thanks to (the) David Green for the heads up on this)

    Hello James,

Mother in law phoned me last night to say about it, I'm just watching it whilst having my dinner,

Cheers James, I weirdly saw the last ten minutes of that program, I didn't realise the earlier articles. Just watched again though.

    Interesting viewing eh!

Well, in a slightly related topic, I've just got a link from someone else regarding hundreds of laser pointed being aimed at a helicopter flying over the Egyptian trouble spots in recent days.

(maybe it's where some of the 15,000 pointers ended up!)

As dangerous as it is, it's quite impressive too!

I'm surprised they only found a max power of 700mw... I have seen ads for some ridiculously high powered pointers...

I'm surprised we've not seen alot more 445nm high powered pointers due to recent advancements in certain projector technology. Personally, I've seen alot more at events and its made me worried. Especially if I'm doing an event with higher powered lasers that I know I've spent time and effort and alot of work to make safe to have some idiot come and ruin it!
