    Default Hunting the laser unicorn

Ok so we have heard about 1 W Green diodes and 460nm diodes and many other exotic for today lasers (445nm was exotic at one time as was 405nm)

So is there any news on these laser unicorns. Have then been spotted? Thought a thread to contain it all might be good so we don't have to search 100 posts.

Lets get Spec to hack into the "vets" section of the other forum and use the lasso of truth.

I'm calling vaporware. Though they claimed to have their hands on a prototype.

These prototypes are not vaporware, but I doubt we see them any time soon:

I was looking at this but I am not sure that is even a 460nm diode in the OP. They list the PLT4NSB as a 460nm but it is really a 450nm diode which looks to be a preliminary model number for a PL450 as they have an identical datasheet and they are all listed as 450nm(typical) with a max of 460nm and a minimum of 440nm. Seems to me the way to find it is to bin a number of PL450B diodes till you find one that is high in wavelength.

    PL450

Then there is the 120mW PL450B diode which is also 450nm but 120mW.

I was working with a green diode laser made by Corning a couple years ago. It was for a picoprojector application. Don't remember the output power, but don't think it was a Watt.
