No. There is no official manual. There are a lot pf threads here and elsewhere about how to do certain things and even some threads where the OP asked a question and the issue was resolved in the thread.

Steve, did you manage to make a decent digital transcription of the tape to wave?

There is a lot you can do in Audacity with that.

Normalizing the color channels to zero dB while retaining the DC offset is a good first step.

All software has a learning curve usually proportional to its capabilities and unique features. Pointing with a mouse is in no way easier than tapping a key.

Sounds to me like you successfully got it into the pure digital domain OK.

Like I tried to say before.... LaserBoy can convert those waves, sample-to-point, into full color vector art that can be saved as ILDA without adding or subtracting anything. Waves have a constant sample rate. If you make frames of a constant point count, the display frame rate should be easy to figure out.

What confused Laserboy was sections of test pattern grids and concentric rings used as eye safe "clouds" in beam effects. The rings were well spaced, not crowded together. The Grid is the standard 10x10 or 11x11 test grids distributed by ILDA and the popular laser software named after Scaly Anteaters. When Laserboy processed the Grids, they looked like Rasters and added time to the ILDA stream.

    So don't "process" anything!

Just take it all in as wave samples. Do nothing to it. And export it as ILDA!

About the only thing you need to worry about is the time shifts (in samples) between the galvo signals and the colors.

Those need to be right, down to the sample, in order to get the art to look right when you import it from wave.

That will add or subtract NOTHING from the original waves. All it does is align the galvo and color signals.

You set your sample shifts in menu b, option 3.

You set the number of samples (points) per imported frame in the [Tab] menu with option i.

Go into menu x and make sure option a is set to OFF.

Use Audacity to cut a short sample of the whole wave set for fast import to get the sample shifting right. Once you figure out the numbers for the short wave inport, they will be the same for the whole thing.

Check in menu x for the kind of ILDA export. I would guess you want type 5, 2D, 24-bit color, option b.

    Come on Steve really?

I have LC-ADAT, unfortunately due to the way it functions it's quite the pain to use (dumps frames to memory so once you are out of ram you are SOL)

I have opened waves from ADAT, that amounted to almost a whole hour of tape, in one pass in LaserBoy. It takes a while. But it works.

It is also possible to simply display the wave (as is) on the monitor, using LaserBoy's wave display functionality.

It's all about those sample shifts!

The same set of numbers, set in the same menu option, govern both the way LaserBoy imports and exports waves.

How many other wave experts do you see jumping in on this thread?
