Fly with a firearm.
Guns are still legal here in the US, and there are policies and procedures in place for people who want to fly with firearms in their checked baggage. There are several benefits to this. First, when you check a firearm, you usually go to a special screening area where your baggage is directly inspected by a TSA agent. Once your luggage is cleared, you are required to use a non-TSA lock that only you have the key to and by law no one may open that bag while it is transit. Airlines also tend to take baggage with firearms inside kind of seriously as losing a firearm in an airport is kind of a big deal. If you don't own a gun, replica guns such as airsoft pieces also fall under the purview of these rules as do starter pistols and flare guns.
Tips:
1) Always follow all state and federal laws concerning the transport of firearms.
2) Never bring a loaded gun, loaded magazines or loose ammunition to an airport unless you really enjoy long talks with law enforcement.
3) NEVER attempt to bring a firearm with you in carry on luggage.
4) Familiarize yourself with the rules, regulations and procedures before heading to the airport. These can vary by state and location, so it's very important that you understand them.
5) The TSA's website is a good source of info on this:

And of course, don't bring firearms to SELEM. A cheap plastic replica gun is all you need to take advantage of these rules.
