Planetarium Laser Show SELEM 2013 - Who's Interested?

PL Folks,

Before I schedule and we pay for this show, I wanted to determine how many of us would commit to seeing a SkyLase laser show at the Catawba Science Center on the night of August 15th (likely right after dinner in Hickory - about 9:00pm). I'm being told it will be $250 for the group of us to see it. Normal cost for a non-member is $9 for a show, so $10 a person for us to have a private show I believe is a fair starting point, pay more if you want to see this happen. I will need to collect funds via PayPal if you want to see the laser show. We will be able to pick at least one show, as well as some stargazing will be included too. We will have an hour or hour and a half in the planetarium if we can make this happen. If there is enough interest, there are 65 seats - but I don't believe that many would be there on Thursday night.

Who is willing to commit to seeing the laser show on Thursday night, August 15th? How much will you spend? I will leave this open for ONE WEEK - next Monday, August 29th will be the cutoff date. If we are successful, I will need payment via PayPal within the next two days, payment by August 31st.

I'm in, with only one huge exception... If we don't have access to the SELEM cafeteria until 4pm we will likely be working on setup until about 9 or 10pm Thursday night.

The Skylase projector is pretty awesome and it would be well worth the time to enjoy one of the shows thursday night. My vote would be for Metallica, Laser X or Hypnotica.

Ok, I didn't realize that we might have a conflict. Apologies if I didn't read through the SELEM 2013 thread, but is the access to the cafeteria looking like it's late afternoon? When will this be known for sure?

I guess dinner in Hickory on Thursday evening may be unknown if access is delayed. The planetarium may be a bit of a long shot, but we'll see what happens between interest and any possible conflicts.

We will have access starting at 1 PM, so it's not an issue. There was a conflict with school pictures, but it appears that has been worked out. (They're still balking at our lack of insurance, but we've never needed it before, so I think they'll relent on this issue. Still, it's been a nightmare this year!)

Long story short - everyone should be finished with setup by 6 PM at the latest. Figure an hour to clean-up and change clothes, and you could do the show starting at 7... But people might want to eat first.

Assuming I'm finished at the venue in time to go to this, I'm in for up to $20...

Based on buffo's response above, count Matthew and I in and, I'll go $20 for each of us. ($40)

Also, being familiar with all of those shows, Laseropolis is excellent and would love to see it in a dome. I'm also a fan of Laser Vinyl and, while parts of Laser Pop are excellent, the Beatles medley in the middle doesn't do much for me.
