450 could be shaped in a much better beam quality of 1mrad & 4.5mm spot size. and the output power could be up to 2W each diode. To stay with such a beam quality, we could stack the output power up to 10 watt in a mall dimension. So do 638nm, also up to 4 watt in a similar quality. and most importantly, they're all acceptable in both beam quality, dimensions and cost. they r good enough for projector. i suppose 473 is for other use here, for it is solid state laser.

I'd also trade one of these for a yellow HeNe if anyone has one they'd be willing to trade.

I don't have a problem with the beam profile of 450, that is workable. It's the color that bugs me. 450 blue is way too deep. 450 is a pretty color for sure but it is a few shades above violet and more of a dark blue. I have a 473nm DPSS that I would love to have in my rig, mixed with 450nm but I am done with DPSS lasers because of their poor modulation characteristics. These 473nm diodes would be great and I don't mind the price, I just wish they were a tad more powerful. Even 50mW would be something (without overdriving).
If you're the smartest person in the room, then you're in the wrong room.

    Hello!
Do you still have 473nm laser diodes on sale? I am interested.
