Maybe this is a dumb question but, who or what company actually manufactures a "scan-fail interlock" board of some sort? I think Marc Arotsky mentioned selling one a couple years ago. Shouldn't something as necessary as that be as commonplace on the market as dichros, mirror mounts, and easy ILDA wiring kits like DZ and Stanwax's?

edit: Or... integrated into the scanner amps themselves by companies like Cambridge? Just wondering.

Google didn't turn up much - other than some ads for Laserworld projectors that had them installed. And of course, LSDI's pdf on audience scanning.

I'm familiar with PASS of course but, that isn't on the market for someone to just purchase and install. My understanding is, it's only available (in the US) to major manufacturers like LSDI to be able to integrate into system they build and sell. I recall Eye Magic having something like that they were advertising back when I got my EMS7000's. I'll look at the other two sources but... this still sort of seems to me like, regardless of your country of origin, it would make sense for all projectors to have. Kinda wish the Chinese would start making THAT standard as opposed to a bunch of built in cheezy DMX patterns and such.

If you didn't know that laser beams are bad for projectors you shouldn't be allowed to own either. That's basically laser 101. It only takes 1 hit to kill a projector...doesn't matter what kind it is or the power of the laser beam. I do projector mapping with a 10k every week with up to 5 lasers on stage and this is always my biggest concern. 1 hard bump of the laser hanging on the truss and you could get laser beams into a Projector that costs more than I make in a few months... (but its never happened yet, Just need to be smart about your setup)

Your audience scanning is ILLEGAL and should not be done without the proper certification and training. Obviously you do not have either.

DJ scanning sure, crowd scan no way hose'. Other than the performer, projector, or possibly a person mounted to the ceiling nobody was in harms way.
