I'm currently trying to do something like this as well.
Not as cool as in the vid above, but it's getting there nonetheless:



What you see here is me drawing random lines in mid-air, and rotating the result around using a Midi controller.

Currently I'm finishing up a way to draw simple 2D drawings, and trying to figure out how to "grab" 3D objects and rotate them around. Your vid is a great inspiration for effects.
I'm using a Leap Motion as well, and I use Processing to convert Leap data to OSC signals and send them to LSX.

what camera have you used to shoot the video? Seems quite a good quality picture...
