    Winni,

I agree with your approach to escalate this dispute gradually and your decision to follow up to contact "the company" that he is accusing of causing this problem. I disagree with your level of aggressiveness. Even if his statements are true and whether we believe him or not is not that pertinent. You have no leverage on "the company". You have not entered into any agreement with them and are not responsible to fight this individual's battles with them.

There is no reason to delay the exposure of this individual's identity to the public. He is now clearly following this thread and has said he will pay even if the exposure is made. So be it. Let him make his own case directly and if convincing this will allow him to avoid the criticism that he will be facing when his identity becomes generally known. And, I assure you, we will all learn who he is eventually. These things cannot remain secret when so many know who he is already.

I would be looking to validate the story personally, nothing more. It's easy to make up one's mind if you know its BS...

Either way, it is not, and should not be Winni's personal problem.

Why not buy a flight to America and reclaim the goods and have a bit of a holiday at the same time Winni? No idea how taxes work in China but thats a legitimate business expense and probably still cheaper than a proper debt collector, but less satisfying than an 'unproper' debt collector (I'm thinking Trevor in GTAV)....

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

    give him 2 days winni.
Also if he can't afford to pay straight up (money issues?)
then let him pay in terms including an extra fee on top (for the hassle, wasted time and bank fees).

If he doesn't pay at all (even not the first fee) then: no shame and post.

If he wasn't financialy stable then he shouldn't have bought in the first place really.
You are a company and not a charity (though I do value your amazing patience and kindness even though the person doesn't deserve it)

Anxiously awaiting buffo's spin on this and perhaps seeing HIS e-mail threads. I think it will be pretty quick to determine if its just more BS given to Winnie or, if there is any hope whatsoever of following through. I have a pretty lousy record of being shafted by people - a few employees, friends, a couple business dealings - all or most with excuses, promises to pay, sometimes a token gesture - I've spent my life being too damn nice and often sympathetic to others with problems. People that know seem to say the same thing... 'there's a special place in heaven for you.." Yeah? Well...whatever. When you're talking about perhaps $36-$38,000 in a lifetime... that's not a consolation.

Anyway, I see that written all over this. I've lived it. It's always some lame excuse. Maybe they'll make a $200 payment to Winnie just to shut everyone up for a while. It won't ever really get resolved.

    Winni,

I believe that this individual is an ass. I believe that you posted this story because you were looking for advise and support. It seems that your problems may have begun when you extended too much trust and have worsened as time has passed and your approach was to give him more time to do the "right thing". You may be continuing with this strategy too long. His refusal to correct the problem, notwithstanding his words and promises (cheap), requires that you do what you threatened to do...EXPOSE HIM!

You are in China and this is a distinct disadvantage. But, remember Buffo's statement that he was arranging to do some business with this individual and thank goodness he did not. This individual may want to sell these lasers and if they are Laserwave may come to me to repair these lasers, he may want to sell or buy equipment from individuals here or on eBay, he may be looking for a gig or a reference, he may (probably has) defrauded others in his own state and this case may encourage them to pursue him in small claims court. There are other leverages that I wont go into here, but are straightforward. As Brad says this may never be resolved, but it may be substantially mitigated and the sooner the better.

Thanks for the heads-up Winni. I try and keep a trustful view of PL members, so sharing this information is a service to all
