    Just a little OT, but i have very good experience using HIRENS boot cd to recover all most anything on any hdd. Once also a rather odd formated disk sitting in an Citrix appliance Access Gateway. We were able to retract all config after a few hours of chewing. google it and you will find it. Its an ISO, so it is easy to burn into a bootable CD. Many nice small programs for various problems with your PC.

    thanks for the tip. next time i should also use a boot CD for data recovery
    since nothing is probaly overwritten, i could get some game data back..
