    Default Holographic table components

    Hi!

I want to set up my first holographic table (or maybe sandbox) , so I am looking for some (hopefully cheaper) used components.
So if you have something (basically anything from plane mirrors to beam expander to even semiconductor Laser) up for sale let me know!
Also what do you think of this kit http://i-fiberoptics.com/laser-kits-projects-detail.php?id=2140 ?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi Eleena, and welcome to PL

There are a few people here who are into holography, including myself in a small 'hobbyist' way. It might also be worth you looking and posting here: http://www.facebook.com/holography and here http://www.holoforum.org

There are more holographers in those places than here.

Do you have a budget in mind for getting started?

    Cheers

    Jem

Where are you located? I may be able to dig up some older mounts, etc, but shipping could be quite expensive

    I recommend against a sand box. It's a '60s improvisation that's a "hobby-wrecker", like a cheap, department store telescope.

    This man speaks the truth.

A few years ago a friend upgraded his home lab from a sandbox to a proper vibration isolation table. I got roped into helping move the 8' Newport table (that also happened to weigh a gazillion pounds and left me with some awesome bruises) down a flight of stairs into his apartment...since then, his shots have never been better!

...he also CAN'T (as in NEVER MOVING THAT TABLE AGAIN) move from that apartment now!

    Hi Jem,

Thanks! Actually I am part of the FB group and I have an account on holoforum too, I just don't post too much! It's been some time now since I've been reading about holography but yes I guess it's a good idea to post there too.

A budget? No,not really... I'm just a student so for now at least I'd like something "small",not too expensive..that's why I am trying to ask around to see what's the best option.

    Thanks again!

    Hi @Eidetic !

I see your point..well however my thoughts were on getting a real proper isolated table but its just that I'll have to move in the summer from the place I live in (actually the country too..)
