    Default QS/Beyond and DMX

Just a thought, and sorry if this has been asked before, I can't find anything using the search function here.

I want to create a beam table projector (from the tons of spare parts I have) and also incorporate my old 80's HeNe lissajous projector setup into it also. I am planning to develop a small embedded micro to drive this via serial/USB (think FB3 style DMX box). Will QS or Beyond detect any USB serial device and permit use as a DMX device?

Currently QuickShow supports only the DMX USB PRO controller from the company ENTTEC
As long as the OS can see the dongle, so will Beyond or QS

Please clarify.. I was under the impression only the Enntec dmx pro would work with quickshow / beyond. Which is a very specific requirement. Artnet on the other hand, any artnet to dmx device or direct artnet device should be able to communicate with beyond.

I don't believe this has changed.

    Unless it's a VERY recent change -
For DMX, QS & Beyond support ONLY the Enttec DMX Pro USB controller.
No experience dealing with the Artnet gear.

And, FWIW, the Enttec DMX Pro USB works great, and seems to coexist just fine sharing a PC's USB ports with a FB3, both with and without a QM or two thrown in the mix...

Slightly off topic, but anyone know roughly how much usb bandwidth an enntec dmx pro will take ? I'm using an icron usb to cat5 extender, with 4 fb3's mounted in the stage side box. All sharing the one cat5, which is running off one usb 2.0 port. Ultimately I'd love to add an enntec to the stage side box as well and have everything going through the one cable

I can't imagine it requiring much more than the DMX baud rate of 250Kbps, unless the driver performs endless device polling for whatever reason (bad programming?).
