Default Single red using LPC diodes?

My 2 SATs currently have 200mW of 532nm and 300mW of 445nm, no red, although I did purchase dichros and mounts from Winni a while back with a view to adding red down the track. I have a few spare Flexmod P3s, a stack of Dave's brass mounts, G2 lens and a shit load of LPC-815 (and later models) in my parts collection.

Without wanting to spend any more money, I am wondering how a single 660nm LPC would fair with my green/blue modules? I am not keen to knife edge, although Thats an option. I was thinking a single diode would be simple.

Do you think I would have enough red? Not looking for perfect balance, just completing the RGB picture.

    Hi
You will not have nice color balance with a single 660nm laser diode, You need 3 LDs
For 5,6mm LD housing; Prefer one Opnext HL63133 or 2x Mitsu ML520G54 (in knife edge)
    For a good life:
    option Num 1....one HL63133 with G2 lens / no TEC @ 270mA - 180mW
    option Num 2....two ML520G54 with G2 lens / no TEC @ 180mA - 130mWx2

    2x 660nm PBS'd would work well.
    - There is no such word as "can't" -
    - 60% of the time it works every time -

Yeah, option 1 was my original plan, as I use them KE in my main projector and love the punchiness. However, I am unemployed and running out of $$$ so just wondering what I can scratch together with what I have... Otherwise I would add another 2 x HL63133's to my main projector too!

Nice suggestion. Let me count my parts bin spares.... I have 4 brass mounts, 4+ diodes, 2+ cubes, 2 turtle doves and only 2 x G2 lens. Not bad, I'll see if I can scrounge a few G2's from somewhere in exchange for them unused turtledoves (whatever they are). Thanks Mr Briggs!

I agree. That's what my 1W RGB has and the balance with deeper red looks good to my eye. 2X 660nm @250mW ea.

You could pimp out your 2x turtle doves as an additional revenue stream.

Whatever the diodes you choose, a knife edging is a good solution for 2 diodes, no PBS needed. A good way to save a few $$ !

id go with two 660 diodes set to 200mw each so they last longer than a few hours

I am hearing ya loud and clear on FM brother. My collection of dead LPC8xx diodes is huge... Fuckers died every time I looked at them, typically one a show. Can someone remind me the "safe" current for these or perhaps a current/output graph? It's been so long.

I have been running Optnext HL63133's hard for so long now and those little puppies just keep going and going [touch wood]. I just can't afford any more at this time.
