    Do you see any error messages in the system console?
    Maybe you have to toggle it on (Mainmenu -> Window -> Toggle System Console)

    I could imagine if you selected the "Rendered Color" option, the path for the saved image (Output -> Output path) is incorrect...

    Strange, it works here. Did you delete the old files in thr addons directory?
    I will test it further the next days, I'll have a show later...

    Did a reinstall and did everything over again, seems to work now.

    Your readme is not entirely clear.
    When installing blender 2.81 the \modules folder has another \freestyle folder.
    Do the *.py files go into the \modules folder or the modules\freestyle folder ?
    Or does it not matter?

    It doesn't matter. You can also just install the zip file via the Preferences/Addons/Install option.
    Then all scripts are in your blender user directory (in windows this is
    Code:
    %APPDATA%\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.81\scripts\addons
    .

    Just load the style module "dxfWriter.py" in the freestyle options from this directory.
