I am an electronics technician and maintenance work of lighting equipment. Recently arrived at my bench a show laser equipment with just a diode problem apparently with the scanner. Went to adjust the trim-pots of the board that controls the scanner immediately after the diode erased and no longer lit. It is possible that a high voltage scanner card went to the diode causing your burning?
