Hehe, I know what you mean about other things taking a back burner - just having a laugh :P

I've not been to any of the US meets (yet) only one here in the UK so far. I might visit Dutchlem too if pennies allow!

    Sorry for thread diversion

Weren't you at SELEM? I was that skinny ass, tall redhead that showed up the first day in uniform. Didn't have time to change

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

You should have 676 come up before 647.
    Hence two reds.

The data on this tube, from MG, doesn't even put a number for 676 output, just an *.

It's not in the best alignment, going to walk the mirrors on it during my lunch break. We'll see what comes of it.

Either way, I got a fourth blue line last night, 496.

Whether I have just 3 blues, yellow, and red, or all the lines, this laser isn't leaving my possession. Paid only $165 for a working air-cooled ArKr with about 1500 hours.

That's magnificent, even if it's not perfect.

Rear mirror is Ion Plated and Superpolished, 99.95 %from about 445 to 690, ~ 1 meter radius.

Front mirror has between 0.3% transmission to 1.0 % transmission for the lines they wish to lase and greater then 5 % for any line they wish to kill. The optic is adopted to to the relative gain of the gas mix.

Some place around here I have the transmission curves for the kill green oc optic and the broadband oc optic.

    I have a few sets ;-)

Red is still pretty weak, and I'm still have issues adjusting power beyond about 20-25%. After that, power plateaus no matter how much I turn the pot...

Anyway, up to 7 lines now

    483
    488
    496
    568

This laser is quite the stellar performer.

Although we've hit a bit a disappointing impasse. Apparently, something is wonky with the pot on the PSU. I measured the current to tube via the remote port. It maxes out at 9.48A at about a quarter turn. So basically, where I've been considering 25% power, has actually been 100% power...

I get a bit of blue and green around 5A, and a faint glimpse of red at exactly 8A, then full power gives me the above images. Some fiddling with optics, and the laser warming up, gets the 5 blues at 100%.

Perhaps running it for a while with the real fan will remedy this a bit.

Lets start with the basics shall we?

Assuming you have a Rotron Patriot or Major or equivalent on the laser head.

Basic check for a 543/643 tube will be cathode current, cathode delta at start, and tube voltage.

Can you shoot me a pic of the PSU with the lid off so I can see what version you have?

Mode looks like its elliptical / grazing the bore in that photo, is it circular ? Or am I seeing image resize issues?

Do you see energy Hop/Fade from 568 to 647? They share an upper state. If the tube pressure is getting low, as you slightly change the mirror tuning, power will hop towards the yellow. Low tube pressure favors the yellow if the optics are peaked. Another sign of this is power oscillates between the red and yellow.

If you pull the mirrors, (one at a time) do they look clean?
