Ok... guilty pleasure admittance. I have the DVD "Toronto Rocks" when the Rollings Stones, Rush, AC/DC and others did a benefit show for victims of SARS and there was a big scare about going to Canada. JT did a version of Seniorita that I do get "playing in my head" from time to time and have to go back to watch. That's it... I'm admitting to NOTHING else. lol

And a link so you can get it stuck in your head too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W21e9xQyVjg

Timberlake used a ton of lasers during his performance on SNL last night.
If that's any indication of the lighting FX used during his concert, you're in for one heck of a show!!

Even if it is Justin Timberlake...

    PS -

As Timmers mentioned in the thread he started, the SNL performance does look like Timberlake was taking a lot of laser shots to the face.
As cool as the lasers looked in the SNL performance , it may have been a bit too much for such a small stage...

Video is posted under the SNL links on NBC.com ...

3 and a half hours until show time!

No cameras or recorders allowed of course but, that's never stopped me. We'll see if I can get anything decent. Now... do I pack the safety googles for red or for blue/green?

I saw "In Time" awhile back. I thought Justin did a good job as an actor, and the plot for this film was interesting. I'd encourage anyone to see the film if you get the chance.

    Enjoy the concert Brad!

In my seat. 5 min to go. I'm trying sort out all the lighting and what's coming from where. Think I've found about 5 lasers so far. 2/3 of the way back in the audience on truss near the middle of the upper level. Well over 20 line arrays of speakers all throughout. 20 moving heads up with the lasers directly over the audience as well.

Well... We'll need to hope for better after the intermission. So far no lasers. I knew two songs. The theatrics are decent and have me wondering about some effects but other than that... Meh.

Second set was better. The song immediately following intermission had the lasers. (And the encore.) About 7 RBG units on stage pointing up toward the ceiling and perhaps a dozen or so green only were what was going into the audience. Honestly what was hitting the audience was so weak even my crappy iPhone camera barely percieved it. To my eyes, it looked a lot like what I get from the Chauvet Scorpion Storm MG's in terms of beams. Kind of underwhelming. The 7 RGB's though had some power and I'm really thinking about some high powered blue modules now. What "hurt" was all the LED and HID lights. Really made you squint and tear up they were so bright.

The other theatrics and movable staging was impressive as well as the video wall. It was comprised of a bunch of small 6 side panels in a honeycomb configuration and served as both the screen for the video AND hid all of the lighting. I don't know what it's made of - maybe a frosted plexiglass or something but it appeared to not impead light coming from behind it since that's where a TON of moving heads and Sharpys were but still managed to display video. They had the abilty to sort of glow independently too. I knew about 5 of his songs and he did covers by Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley. Not rushing out to buy any Timberlake but it was a decent evening anyway.

And so it goes with legal audience scanning in the US. So dim it's hardly worth the effort (except for marketing purposes or bragging rights).
