AH! It's happened!! I remember when you predicted this Steve. Nice. The 475 is a pleasant surprise too. Wow yes like Dave said a game changer. Things are going to get interesting again. Everybody ready for another 55 page "Grail" thread or 2 while we sort these out?
Perhaps:
"We" should review shall we? A single tray of diodes appears on Ebay. Single tray might have been just the over-runs for one prototype some place. We have no idea if this is a long term potential source. or if "We" are going to be paying 350-750$ for a video projector to recover one or two green diodes.
Nichia has not stayed in business by selling ONE diode. Their past history indicates high power diode sales less then a few hundred thousand pieces do not happen.
I'd expect big consumers of diodes with existing relations with Nichia (ie Power Technology Inc.) to get their mitts on these long before us.
DPSS green, right now, is still cheaper, in many ways.

Don't think I am going to get to excited just yet.
These new greens and blues might just make the p73
Look like a tight single mode
When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.
I just heard they are for a video projector; come on DTR; do your stuff.
Trust me I will tear apart any new projectors that come out just for the chance but don't see any new ones that I have not tried. If there are any suggestions let me know.![]()
I might just have that name you are looking for, I will PM you soon as I get it confirmed.
C'mon RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wiki:The first visible wavelength laser diode was demonstrated by Nick Holonyak, Jr. in 1962.
