    Default Odd Places, Odd Cases

I completed a couple cases recently which accommodate tight space constraints. They ended up looking kind of comical, so I thought I'd share.

The cases are aluminum and nothing special on the inside with output of about 1.9W each. They were made as large as possible for continued expansion and as such they barely fit in their intended enclosures. Thankfully, they have plenty of breathing room once they are pushed into place and the fans are placed appropriately for their destination. As you can see below, they slide in to fit within the available space between wall joists and press up against the drywall on the far side as shown here:

Since they are silly looking, I decided to name these babies "Tweedle-Dee" and "Tweedle-Dum". This represents the current limit of my skills with my "low-rent mill" - which consists simply of a jigsaw and a drill press.

Also, here's a video of a quick show I put together that shows Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum in action.

Also note that this has been my wife's favorite song for about six months, which I admit which causes me some slight concern.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

They look great David! They remind me a bit of Alice in Wonderland with skewed perspective.

I enjoyed your video - the laser-mapped table is a great idea.

Do you have scan-through effects on your centre laser?

Thanks, Keith! I need only look in the mirror to find the Madd Hatter!

Yes, that center low projector does double-duty thanks to a DMX controlled lumia wheel. Here is a write-up I did last year on the implementation: http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...-RGB-Projector

    Cheers!

Hehe, I'm quite partial to a mad-hatter's tea party myself :P

That's a really smart build. I hope my build ends up as smart as that.

I'm not sure if I'm going to do scan-through effects on this first proper build but may consider saving some space for an upgrade in the future. Looks wicked

Holy crap dave! That is some VERY sexy work with only a jig saw and drill press. I would love to see what you can do if you get your hands on a milling machine. BTW- dude, SERIOUSLY- is this your HOUSE?? If so, I would like to book a weekend!

Hey Marc! That's very generous of you. I made a few mistakes on one of first case, but the second one went a lot smoother. One of these days I'll invest in a mill, but for now all my spare $$$ seems to magically disappear into laser related things!

Everyone needs hobbies, right? You should have seen my builder's faces when I explained what I wanted done for the multimedia room. "You want a dance floor, where?!?"

In any case, let me know when you happen to be in the Charlotte, NC area and we'll have some lasering fun.

You may also be interested to know that the main graphics projector in that video (coming from top center) with the *perfect* overlap is the current iteration of my first pj build - made proudly from CTLaser equipment!
