So it seems to be a really "short" module. CNI sells pretty compact units, and these ones are 60mm long. http://www.cnilaser.com/PDF/PGL-H-532.pdf
If the KTP is in one of the 2 front mounts, the green light can go both ways, including toward the diode.

Hum... IR diode with no built-in FAC lens.

Interesting enough, on the OPT website the modules looks exactly the same as the cheap RGB modules on eBay...

    I'm confused.

Which model is this, and how much did it cost? Would be good to know so we can avoid buying it. Remember n00bs read this (like me) who have no idea what the other projectors this is being compared to are.

I checked their web site, and other than the 500mW unit they all say 1 year Warranty.

Hey Wayne, do you know this from experience?

SBK there are no good looking girls in Thailand, only boys.

What happens in Thailand stays in Thailand (STDs excluded).

Be careful, you could end up like David Carradine.

    Hi

Well, this one came in one of their standard designs.
It was based on their 3 Watt RGB but we specifically asked for a 2.5 Watt.
They stated they could build any combination.

    So we asked for :

    1000 mW 445
    1000 mW 638
    500 mW 532

    We got:

    1200 mW blue
300 mW red ( badly aligned optics resulted in 2 x 250 mW ending up at 300 mW total )
600 mW Green ( where this dropped to 300 mW wwhen the driver was set to ANAlog instead of TTL )

    As for warranty,
Yep it is on their website but that's as far as it gets...in the end you don't get any warranty.
    At least we didn't.

The cheap modules on eBay are also theirs.

So this is based on a custom unit?

I'm just trying to figure out if the other units are OEM from the factory, but they made your unit in house. If they made it in house they probably wont back it up, but if its from the factory there may be a Warranty.

    Hey TechJunkie

Let me quote their product description:

    3 W Laser light
    Wavelength and Output power
    Red638nm 1000mw + Green532nm 500mw + Blue445nm 1500mw

Operating mode CW Operating Temperature 10-40
    TTL/Analogue modulation for your choice
    Power supply AC90-260V
    Lifetime 10000 (HOURS)
    Warranty 1 Years

So we asked for a 2.5 and got this.
    It's their standard system;

    Check this link: http://www.optlaser.com/en/products/show.php?id=174

So to rephrase. If you order something along those lines, you get what we reported about.

Hope this clears it up for you

Dont get me wrong, I believe they ripped you off. I was just curious if their standard packages had the same quality.

What I see, from your info, and his email, is they gave you a very cheap price, and probably cobbled together some reject parts they had laying around to fit what you needed. They may have even made it for cost just to move it.

In any event the adage is the same, you get what you pay for. I really hate dealing with the Chinese laser market myself. They have an honorable culture, but when dealing with the Western world they throw all that culture out of the window to make a buck. I guess they learned that from us.
