Sorry, what I meant was you seem to be talking about 635 as an alternative to 637, which seems to be based on price. So I was enquiring how much you can get your 635 for, because it might allow people to offer suggestions of what else you could get for your money.

There is a reason why lots of people aren't using 635 anymore, a lot of it being down to price/performance ratio.

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Can't we make the beam thinner with less divergence with optics? Has anyone done this? You have to forgive my naive questioning.
Making the beam thinner increaes divergence.

With the lower divergence diode based modules (red and blue) that have slightly fatter beams, this is why some people are expanding their DPSS greens a bit, to bring the divergence down to comparable levels.

So thats why 635 at higher powers is about where its at currently, and the reason why people haven't reduced 635 and 650nm further (in very broad terms)

I don't really have a set budget particularity for the red. I'll be buying a ready made projector. I would like at least 2 watts Green, 3 Blue and a red to match. But I guess the red would have to be be in the same ball park price wise as the G and B. I don't know. Looking at Goldenstar lasers they look like they've come down a lot since last year. The N-RGB5000B looks quite good. This is the sort of thing.
    R>1W/637nm
    G>2W/532nm
    B>2W/445nm USD4200 with DT40pro
But I think you might start seeing the red in the air but will still look crap against the other colours. Thats why i keep going on about 635.

i dont think 2 or 3 nm is going to make much difference
a dual p73 build is good for 1.5w tec cooled ,i use them in my 2x 4w rgb's colours are awesome
would still like single mode diodes though wish the price was better on them
When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.

2 or 3 nm difference wouldn,t make any difference. Its the divergence that is probably way off from the red. A thight red with 637 or 638nm would do fine. Below 2 pictures of a chinese red versus a good red.
