Ah, interesting. Anyone have any idea what the companies use as the non-toxic preservative for their thinner glycol based fluid?
For my outdoor shows where quality is not a big deal I buy pure Glycerine and mix with about 80% distilled water. Running from smoke machines it smells faintly 'sweet' if you are looking out for it, but better than the cheap fog mixes. It costs me about $2 a gallon but cannot be stored for longer than a week, after which mould develops. I was wondering if there were any remedies to this? I read about a few drops of bleach on a diy fog juice page - but bleach in any concentration feels negligent to me.
If anyone is interested, I would be glad to grab some triethelene glycol / propylene glycol to mix with my Glycerine in different ratios and do some test for smoke machines. I don't own any crackers so wouldn't be able to help there.
