"Wanna see my private disco?" worked for my first date with the current spouse, however it may just be due to a liking for Floyd and/or being her being easy.

That said, +1 for Keith's and Brad's comments regarding the longer term implications of lasers on long term relationships. :0

I'm EXTREMELY lucky to have a beautiful girlfriend who digs lasers, thinks watching me tune scanners or use an oscilloscope is fascinating, DEMANDS lumia, AND is willing to help clean optics. She's definitely a keeper!

    L. Michael Roberts is absolutely correct on page 21 of his book when he makes the following point:

"You are qualified to become a laserist if you...
    (snip)
Are single (a very involved partner is OK; a laser person as a partner is best)"

If you're hell-bent on laserism, the right girl IS a laser girl!

Ah yes Steve but remember... once you have the girl... laser related expenditures get a lot harder... you have to learn to lie, intercept the mailman, spend nearly an equal amount in shoes and jewelry to get what YOU want, and, have friends whose address you can use to ship things to and a sympathic quiet person there who can sign for such packages! Burn holes in drapes, furniture and kitchen cabinets need to be fixed quickly! The list goes on.
Seriously, I think you blokes are just picking the wrong girls.

We have a rule where she doesn't ask, and I don't tell her - and she trusts that I'm making sensible purchases that will at least recoup their cost in their lifetime.

I don't have to 'bribe' with gifts, but I do have to take her along to a festival or 2 through the year.

She thinks the lasers are cool too, but I have needed to plan my time a bit better, now we have a daughter.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

    Huh huh huh!

    Ditto what Norty said!

Even better, my 6 month old is obsessed with lights... so hopefully, if he keeps that obsession, I'll have someone to take over as bits start falling off in my old age!
If in doubt... Give it a clout?
