Walmart usually sells cheap 400 watt foggers for around $30, but I've only ever seen them in stock around Halloween.

If you have a "Party City" store near you, you can check there. Otherwise there's always E-bay...

Note that a 400 watt fogger is only really appropriate for a room that is maybe 30 ft square, and that's assuming there isn't a lot of moving air. (No central heating system that would otherwise suck all the fog up.) Also, you'll want to clean it regularly, since they tend to clog up and fail quite rapidly otherwise.

Hi Solitude. Is the small area residential or a business?

Many foggers use oil based liquids which can upset fire detection systems.
Personal opinion, but I believe water based is better, particularly in more enclosed spaces as they don't leave a residue all over you nice clean optics. Hazers are very effective in smaller spaces (smaller particulate size) and your beam shows will look sharper. Look into something like a Chauvet Hazer 2D. It has a relatively low output for the size of room you'll be using.

A cheap fogger will be fine for a garage. It will use a water-based glycol fog solution. Check out Party City, if you have one near you. (Hazers are much more expensive, and as mentioned above, they tend to gunk up your optics.)

If you don't have a Party City, here are a few cheap foggers I found on e-bay:

    Good luck...
