    Default Pangolin FB3-XZ ??

Solved: Installing newest version of QS (Build 374) did the trick.
Pangolin responded and had the solution for me.
    Thanks Aaron@pangolin.

Just got my new FB3 in today, and tried to hook it up. (From a reliable auth. source)
QS gave me the friendly message that "Your FB3 is not intended to be used with this software"

A close inspection of the FB3 itself gave no obvious answers as the two i now own are identical besides from the serial.

Hooked up with QS and using the firmware upgrade menu, i see that my old one is an FB3-QS and the new one is FB3-XZ?? Firmware 0.00

Google gave me no answers to what XZ is?

Any of you gentlemen have any clue?

Only a guess but is the software locked to a specific FB3 serial number?

Maybe try plugging in the original FB3 that works with the software as well as the new ones?

    Thanks again Keith.

    Been there and done that.
Old one works like a charm, new one not accepted.
I Guess I will try with another PC i have at home, and se if the problem is the same there.

Just got off the phone with Aaron at Pangolin.

The problem is that you need to download the latest version of Quickshow. The older version did not support FB3 serial numbers above 60,000, which is why it's showing you the "unsupported firmware" error. Once you update your quickshow software you will be fine.

Also, Aaron said that he already e-mailed this information to you. Have you checked your spam filter?

Thaks to you all. I did not check the mail frequently enough, as i was trying to Google for information. As soon as i found the mail, i did download and installed. Problem solved. For the record, I also checked into Pangolin site to look if there was another version available, but at this page:http://www.pangolin.com/UpdateFiles.htm . When checking back now i see that it links to the new version, and i must have been blind not to see that it was a newer version avaliable, unless the link is recently oudated today.

Again, this forum are mostly hosted by gentlemen and dedicated laserist willing to help beyond expectations.

    HI Datsurb,

First let me welcome you to the Pangolin Family! We're glad to have you on board. Have you already signed up for the Pangolin Shows Portal?

Secondly, I am sorry to hear about the problem you experienced, but glad that Aaron was able to get you sorted.

The problem is that the particular version of QuickShow you had was older, and the FB3 you had is one of the newest. In such a case, sure, the easy answer is to download the latest version of software from the web.

Still, I am curious as to how this could have been possible. For example, did you get an old installation DVD in the box along with the new FB3, or did you get the software in another way that would explain why you would have "old software"? Please contact me privately, because I'd love to understand what happened so we can prevent it in the future.

As you will no doubt discover, we craft a user experience and work flow that is really pretty smooth and seamless. What happened to you should not ever happened, so I want to understand it and put things into place to ensure that our clients always have a great user experience.

    Best regards,

    William Benner

No need to get private regarding this issue. I have been member of the Pangolin family for some time now, and this FB3 was my second. I have build 4 projectors in addition to the two i have bought, and want to explore the posibilities in QS working with multiple DAC. Thats is why i have an older version installed on my computer. I really love the idea of installing the software on any computer, and using the DAC as a dongle to activate the software. This give me the freedom of using both my laptops for shows and stationary computer for editing, and tuning shows with a better monitor, proper mouse etc, without the hazzle of plugging everything in and out of the laptop. I have not looked at the media that came in the box, so i have no idea what version this is. Downloading latest version is always the way to go, but i did not see that it was a new release available at the Pangolin site.

Still i have one more question for you while you are here. I`d like to have the same FW version on both dacs, but that is not possible to do with QS. I guess new FW always brings improvements to the product. As i normally work with computers and HW, i know that consistancy of releases is highly prefferable while using two units with one computer, and the same instance of software.

Is there a way of bringing the two FB3 up to the same level?
    FB3 1 FW 7,25
    FB3 2 FW 7,27

Will hook up everything this weekend to learn more.

Yes, our software will automatically update any connected boards to the latest firmware. For some versions, they need the latest firmware and so things will generally just automatically be updated.
