I think the interesting discovery here is that these diodes output over a truly huge range spanning more than an octave. This probably explains their inherently broad lasing bandwidth. It is probably bound by the cavity optics more than the energy levels. I would love to test the junction without cavity optics. Could mirrors designed for gain between 532 and 620 produce yellow to orange lasers?
