I was referring to current controlled by thermistor, like the drivers d4chill made some years ago. For a better stable control.. not an ON/OFF cycle

Those "on-off" controllers are remarkably accurate. I've seen less than 1 degree shift with them.

The on-off controller buffo pointed out work very good. I have them on 1 projector and also on some heat tape to protect my pipes in the winter. Only complaint is they use a mechanical relay that probably wont last forever.
Back to the original picture..... I would stay away from #2. If the hole is bored just slightly bigger than the module the heat transfer will be awful. Even with thermal grease. The slotted clamp style should give better contact all the way around the module. (if the hole is very close to the module diameter)

I've seen several temp controllers with TRIAC. these could be connected to the tec Psu (on AC 110v input) thus avoiding the need for mechanical relay, but think these dont work well with inductive loads. I have to investigate!![]()
