So you think Dr. Lava will ever respond to any of my emails? Because I've emailed him like three times now and not even a response, save for an "auto responder" from his newest incarnation of his website...

He might be curing cancer for all we know, so perhaps waiting for LSX isn't the worst thing in the world. Besides, isn't acquiring things more fun when you have to wait for them?

I'm sure he'll show up and deliver in time. I've ordered from him 6-8 times and I've received what I ordered within a month at most.

I have heard from a reliable source that he is, in fact, not living in a cave, and is about and aware of our plight, and that he will resurface soon to make things right... hang in there.

Well, until I hear from him I will hold off on sending my hard earned cash through his website... Want to make sure I get the right package of LSX, and for that I will definitely need to ask him some questions...

Or anyone else that might know for that matter...

Understood. You can ask me questions; I'll be happy to help any way I can.

    Great to hear.
As soon as he's back I will order a dongle from him for ILDSOS as I feel like its better in case I change hardware or reinstall pc etc etc (recently installed windows on my SSD. Doing a dual boot so I can use the other windows install but I'd be nice to not have to do that for ildsos

ILD SOS doesn't have a dongle option, PJ. It isn't locked to a specific PC either, but does require an activation key (unless something changed in the 30 months since I purchased it). I've migrated to new PC's twice without issue.

That's weird because even on his newer website it says dongle option... "Choose a USB dongle for easy computer transferrability." (exact wording)... Either way, I don't mind the dongle, since I will run LSX on my home desktop but may carry it out on a laptop when "in the field." I'm just curious if I need the Basic or Pro version; seems like mainly the Pro version allows for more scanners, which is kinda confusing to me as I thought the scanners were inside the projector I'd be using, and what's with the 32 target "worlds?" Lots of questions I need answers for just to clarify; I don't want to get something that I won't need... Like with the projector, I wish I had asked about the scanners, but didn't know enough to do so... Still, it's okay because I'd much rather have 40k scanners, something Goldenstar didn't have at the time, than to have gone with the 30k...

Ild Sos works with my LSX dongle. I can't say for sure but I don't think Ild Sos is transferrable over computers without one.

With LSX Pro you get 8 timelines which means you can assign 8 separately controllable DACs.

A target world is a projection zone, eg. you can have a world that is the full width of the scanners for beams, another one for graphics on a specific projection screen with geometrical correction, another one where you want to project just text, one for overhead beams, ... Each world has their own size and position settings with independent geometrical correction. Also hotbeams for bounce mirrors and mirrorballs are set by this. This means you can load in the same show for several gigs and just set the worlds before the show without editing the file itself. When opening another show, you can load the world files and you'll have the same settings. These worlds are applied to events on the timeline: for each source event (animation, runtext, ...) you can select which target world it has to use. So with Pro, you get 32 of these, with Basic only 8 or so. I usually don't use more than 2 but if you have bounce effects you might need more.

Scan parameters are the same, but with optimisation. You can have a different kind of optimisation for each show type (beams, graphics, raster, abstracts, ...). This is useful when you're designing a show that uses mixed content. Optimisation includes point rate, interpolation, additional points at blanking/on transitions for sharpness etc.

    Hi VOD!

I was referring to ILD SOS (stand-alone) when I said it didn't have a dongle. You are correct regarding the dongle option for LSX, of course.

Personally, I prefer a dongle as it allows me to use other people's DACs and multiple computers at my leisure. Unlike some other software packages (e.g. Medialas' MIII), removing the dongle doesn't cause the program to shut down immediately, causing a potential loss of work. In fact, I can keep editing an LSX show for days without the dongle, although I'm (fairly) prevented from sending content to a projector.
