Damn.... no Greg, no Dan Goldsmith, no Stuka, no Frank??? This is going to just seem a little odd this year.

Good news folks... Looks like Frank will be able to attend after all! He had a change of plans, so everything is looking good now.

Also, I have received confirmation that Patrick Murphy (Executive Director of ILDA) will be able to attend this year as well. Normally SELEM conflicts with another conference that Patrick attends, but this year the dates work out so that he can attend both.

Patrick will be putting on at least two presentations for us. The first one will be in the auditorium, and will be a brief introduction to ILDA. It is strongly recommended that all new members attend this presentation! Afterwards, Patrick will be available to answer questions and participate in round-table discussions as the need arises.

The second presentation will be held in the upstairs classroom and will focus on some current events with significant relevance to laserist. Some of the topics he will discuss include proposed changes to CDRH rules and definitions (particularly with regard to laser pointers), a review of laser pointer incidents (including aircraft incidents), and a synopsis of a new laser safety labeling program that ILDA is sponsoring.

David Zurcher and David Kumpula have already been informed of Patrick's travel schedule, and they will be blocking out some time in the overall SELEM schedule for Patrick to give his presentations. Right now it looks like the "ILDA overview" presentation will be on Friday, with the more detailed presentation to follow on Saturday.

Very cool. That's kind of exciting news. Although... PM coming.

All set. We will have Patrick's auditorium presentation on Friday, with the classroom portion on Saturday.

My recommended answer to this is no, for the auditorium. Ultimately, the decision rests with buffo.

We can fly some of the smaller quads indoors. Club-SELEM would probably be the better location for this.

Last year I did fly my tiny 107D (with the first-person video camera) in the auditorium very briefly, just to get some beam shots. They turned out OK. However, you need to be a very good pilot if you're going to fly in the auditorium! We don't want to hit anyone... Granted, the small quads like the 107D really won't hurt (they fit in the palm of your hand), but even so it's an annoyance.

Let's play it by ear. We can definitely fly in the gallery area, as well as in club SELEM.
