1970's era ZZ Top concert in Memphis. They had a high power white-light ion. Saw that thing , what it could do, and that was it for me ..

+1 I know exactly what you mean!
If you're the smartest person in the room, then you're in the wrong room.

Picked up a job during my college years programming laser shows using the old LM Zap and Pangolin QM32 based Lasershow Designer. Bought my first projector using an American Lasers air cooled argon that was refurbished from a photocopier, set of DMX controlled actuators, and some effects glass for my home use. That was almost 20 years ago. I still have that projector (minus the air cooled argon) and it still works.

Saw my first laser in Edmund Scientific Catalogs. Then got really interested due to the Amateur Scientist articles in Scientific American magazine on how to build a HeNe, Argon, Dye, and CO2 gas lasers. Attempted to build my first CO2 laser (un-successfully) while in High School. It wasn't until that I was able to buy the right equipment (laboratory grade vacuum pump, high voltage power supplies, gas cylinders, etc.) cheap on eBay that I was able to successfully build a CO2 laser from scratch. It's been an obsession ever since.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

ELO "Out of the Blue" tour, Murfreesboro, TN, 1978.
Totally blown away when I saw them use lasers!

My signature block happened the next year.

Went on a 28-year hiatus (with the notable exception of dealing with some airborne military lasers ), then bought my first Pangolin gear in 2007.

    Been broke ever since...
