Mine simply cracked where I drew the red line. The fuse cover actually uses a phillips screwdriver rather than just a twist of the fingers so, I suppose if one tightened it too much, it could force the back to crack. Again keep in mind the projector bounced around the back of a van for 550 miles with no flight case. It just got thrown back there after the Newton show. A piece of truss or anything could have knocked against it.

    Wow, that's freaky...

I had a gig a week ago and when I powered up the two Pluto2s ready to do the alignment and masking I couldn't get one to switch on.
I did a quick check of the PowerCon lead and found it was OK so immediately went to the fuse on the back of the Pluto2.
Removed the "cap" and found no fuse...

Thought that was odd and immediately suspected that the holder must have failed. Verified by inserting a plastic cable tie more than the usual 2cm depth.

    Shit.
    Show starts very soon...

CUE: Rapidly getting the projector down and performing emergency surgery on it on the floor!
With no spare parts available I repaired the fuse holder using electrical tape and zip ties. With special attention to ensuring that should it fail again, the loose cable couldn't short on the case!
Got though the gig fine but they're both in the shop now awaiting new fuse holders...

Mine failed in the exact same way (the "end" where the terminal attaches fractures off the cylindrical body).

Annoying, but not the end of the world. Especially as it's such a simple cheap repair.

I am gonna pull mine apart and see how they look today. Should be a quick and easy fix. I need to do some work on mine anyway.

Has anybody passed this along to Omar/Lightspace? I need to e-mail her today so, I'll mention it if no one else has.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

    Surprise! Omar is female.

Brad: Please mention it to her in your message. Might be a good time to pass along DSLI-Jon's suggestion to replace the stepper-motor shutter with a VRAD actuator from Pangolin too...

I've not mailed them so if someone does, please mention mine to give a better idea of the number of affected units.

This was the first time I had opened up the cases and it's definitely quite cramped in there at the back so I'm wondering how I will be able to squeeze a stanwax ilda card in there at some point... Might have to think about this!
