The solution, as Grix pointed out, was quite simple
As it turns out, I was missing a temp subfolder in %appdata%/LasershowGen .
After making the subfolder, I can import ILDA files without an error![]()

Is it possible, for a future version, to add fade-in/fade-out to the animations in the timeline, as to make a smooth transition between animations, to combine with music?
Yes, I am definitely planning on adding effects like that to the timeline, and I have some ideas on what kind of interface to make. But it will take some time, so don't hold your breathIn the meantime you can do it manually using the editor mode. A fade in or fade out effect can be made using the reapply button, by setting the color to animate from white to black, and setting the color blend mode (selector next to the REAPPLY button) to subtract. Then use the scope button to only apply the animation to the start or end portion of the file. See the manual for more details on how these settings work. It's a bit complicated perhaps, but I am planning on making some tutorial videos at some point explaining how to do common effects like these.

Here's a test file with the use of the timeline, if anyone's interested:

It's a bit crowded, so my budget projector showed it like a slideshow more or less.
I reckon it'd be better to combine simpler animations, to make the output smoother, at least for the cheaper projectors.
Is the Bitlaser site down? I can't seem to download any version from the updater, or even get to the page with the download links![]()
- There is no such word as "can't" -
