Kvant is OK. Their 1/2 angle divergence spec is grossly misleading and that is my only gripe with them. The issue I have with the promotion of huge numbers of single mode diodes for high power applications is the complexity of the combining optics increases the chances for misalignment, cost and the inevitable gaps between beams. This is by no means superior to the beam management optics for a smaller number of multimode diodes. To be generous, let's call it a personal preference.

Flecom - I think you just got a bad one. It happens. My 6 banger Kavant 638 has been solid from the start and never wandered. Or maybe they're all bad and I just got a good one..??

The p73,s are too much hassle to get a graphics quallity beam but they are fine for beamshows and that is pretty much it.
In your experience. I've got a few here that are just sweet for graphics shows, and will be being used in preference to the other options I was using.

BTW, top work from all of you lot.

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

too hard to get to it in my projector without taking the whole thing apart, which if I do it's going to get replaced with a 637nm some day

I was just so disappointed them after spending that much money

Don't build unserviceable projectors in the future perhaps. I tend to layout stuff for maximum accessibility with removal of minimal panels, and if stuff does need to come apart it does so in logical units.
But realistically, if I had a choice between spending a bit of time and rectifying the situation vs having my $3k module unusable and sitting there for a long time, I know what I'd be doing right now.

it's not unserviceable, it's just if I go through the trouble of removing it it's not going back

and I kind of gave up on all this a while back anyway, there is no money in it down here... every DJ and his mother has a "lazer" so I am just concentrating on my home projector for watching my ADAT shows and that's pretty much it
