Well, for me I'm having trouble finding a +/- 24VDC switching power supply that has a 0VDC (ie 'center tap') output.
I *was* thinking of using two single +24VDC switching supplies in series per this diagram here on PL which is useful for reference:

    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...4&d=1363048287

Trouble is, I'm not comfortable wiring this to Steve's amplifiers because the '0VDC' has a potential difference of +24VDC with respect to ground. Even though this '0VDC' is left floating, if power and signal grounds are shared on the board we are applying +24VDC where 0VDC is expected. I asked about doing this on the 506 thread and Steve said nope, so no-go there.

So I'm going to order a nice linear +/- 24 VDC supply (International Power Linear Power Supplies, OPEN FRAME Series) since I don't have transformers around the house big enough to build a supply.

Comments are welcome... I'll report back and let you know how it goes.

Do you have a model number for said PSU? My problem is, Google and eBay both don't allow special characters. +/- is not recognized nor is ±. After spending many an hour on eBay looking for a "dual voltage" PSU, I managed to sift through the "12V/24V" and "5V/24V" PSUs only to come across three +/- power supplies that were either too low a voltage or the current was only .5A.

I don't want a micro build but I also don't want a power supply that is the size of the projector.

I can remember that bart ordered this one, it was years ago but i have a good memory once i read it somewhere

If you want compact and 24V+- with plenty of juice this is the one to get:

Or you could go with this one:

    Both are damn small

Many thanks for that! I might try one of these guys. Looks to have a lot of RF filtering at the output.

woah! Those are damn small. This would be a good choice for a portable build someday.
I have been trying to find portable differential or dual rail power supplies on ebay for a while but they were very hard to come by let alone portable!

This is the linear power supply I was looking at, however, Edison's supply looks better. More power, designed for audio, looks perfect.

    Thanks, Edison! Happy holidays.

I bought a couple of those to work with Steve's amps. They are sufficiently small and no issues thus far. The output voltage is +/-25 to 35V so you need to turn them down all the way. The lowest I could get mine was 25.4V.

Edit: After hours of painful searching (same +/- search issue!) on AliExpress, I also found and purchased two of these: http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6...64661625839041 Unfortunately, its been 40 days since I ordered these and they still haven't arrived, so I don't think I'd recommend this vendor.

Sounds like I am going to go with one of the PSUs that Edison recommended. I'm going to go for the gusto and grab one of the 300W RMS differential PSUs. They're one $20 more and I know I will have more than enough headroom.

Damn 40 days! I hope your get your items soon. I have never ordered anything from Aliexpress because I was always worried about vendor supply amongst other things.

I believe it was me who advertised here about those PSU's a few times ago

I bought 3 units and they are working quite good, lots of headroom power.
But I noticed some strange HF oscillations on the scanners when projector were cold and PSU adjusted on 24-25V, not sure it was strictly the PSU fault but I adjusted them on min voltage (21V) and the problem haven't appeared any more since...
