I counted 19 from your list. Did you forget to count yourself?

RGBGas & Imagelight were also there that makes it 21.

I got 19 which appears to have included David but, not RGB gas. He did have ImageLight though (Mark) in between flecom and Alexi unless we had two Marks. So I'm thinking 20.

We didn't have the manager of Angelo's though. She would have counted as two.

I didn't get to see her at dinner. And you were sitting next to me.

Oh man.... I need to start scheduling a day of vacation for the day after I return home from FLEM! I was completely useless today. Came home and napped for 3 solid hours, and I could have probably slept right through to morning if I didn't have things to do.

What a weekend though! Great fun was had by all, and despite the chaos we actually accomplished quite a lot. The new DZ/Ed Keefe "Advanced ILDA Router" is an amazing piece of hardware, and everyone was blown away by what it could do. Even Bill Benner was impressed, and that is saying something! Then there was the demo of the new color-mod for the Z5 analog console, which was a much-welcomed upgrade. As usual, Mark (Imagelight) quickly adapted to the new controls, and within minutes he was amazing us with cool, custom, color-synchronized abstracts! We also got a good look at the ADAT-to-ILDA and ILDA-to-ADAT converters that DZ offers, and even got a preview of a new product that should be coming out soon that will take the place of the cheap sound-card DAC's that people have been using in the past.

However, the real excitement for the event was provided by Pangolin. Even though it won't be "officially" announced until the Pro Light and Sound convention in Frankfurt on the 15th, Bill showed us the new Flashback 4 SE. This is the new Pangolin controller that has built-in Ethernet, DMX, and a micro-SD card reader. So you are no longer limited by the length of a USB cable when using a Flashback! It also has a nifty organic LED display screen on it that allows you to access a number of special features, including many that are designed to make it easy to set up when running as a stand-alone unit playing content off the SD card. It's designed to be installed in a projector, so the only connections you would have would be power, interlock, and Ethernet!

The entire unit is smaller than a credit card. Here's a picture:

You can click on the image to get a larger version.

Bill also talked about another version of the controller that will be sold in an enclosure much like the Quickshow verison of the FB3 is sold now. This unit has not been named yet, but it might end up being the "FB5". It should be available later this year. Bill also showed us one of the Mach-Mini DPS amps that will be used for the new Compact 506 scanners. I didn't get a picture of it (sorry), but it was only slightly larger than the FB4. Bill said he should have them available by SELEM. (Woot!)

Another very cool item on display this time was Count Funkula's Spectra-Physics 168 Kr-Ar laser running on a single-phase Aurora power supply. Lovely glass tube and lots of pretty lines! Pic:

I really do need to thank those folks who stayed late on Saturday to help pack everything up and clean the venue. This is the first time I didn't have to go back on Sunday morning to clean up, and that was so nice! So thanks guys; I greatly appreciated it!

I wish we could do this every weekend, but given how tired I was when I got home, maybe it's a good thing to take a break! That being said, SELEM is only 4 months away...

See the post right before yours by Adam:

    Late as always... Smh
FLEM was a blast as, I knew it would be!!! These are the best people in life and I just love hanging out with all of them, as long as possible..
It always amazes me of just how many talented and brilliant people we have in this group and the devices they create for us to play with.. I have just barely scratched the surface on learning the new DZ Color Mod Synth for the Z5, and look forward to the many hours it's going to take to master it.. The Advanced ILDA Router is a "must have" for all multi-projector fixed installations, and concert touring laser companies as well.. This device will give LD's control of the laser effects they've wanted for years via their DMX consoles.. Pangolin's ultra-fast laser signal processing FB4 was also on display as well as, a new digital servo amp for the Compact 506 scanners all to be available very soon.. Technology just dreamed about only a few years ago is now reality, and very affordable too.. Huge Thanks to the planners, presenters, and to everyone who came out to make this a fun filled educational event... See you all soon at SELEM

Is it just me, or is everyone suffering through "FLEM Withdrawal" right about now?

Damn, I wish we could do this again this coming weekend! Too much fun!

I'm so conflicted about this. It seems that DIY is nearly dead in the hobbyist community. Brad's effects rig was very cool though, looking forward to seeing that thing completed!
