I'm so conflicted about this. It seems that DIY is nearly dead in the hobbyist community. Brad's effects rig was very cool though, looking forward to seeing that thing completed!
i will try to have a little something homemade for selem...
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

I forgot all about Brad's lumia rig. I was admiring it for some time and asking him questions about it on Friday. Saturday I went to Home Depot with him to get a glass cutter. I don't know how that slipped my mind. Sorry Brad.

Awesome I can't wait. Any hints as to what you've dreamt up now?

No worries. I think the fall off in DIY projectors is, I hoarded all the parts that have been sold on here so you guys don't have anything to build with!

It was nice to get a little more work done on that rig and get some people's opinions on what else to do with it. I think scrapping the DMX controller that came with it from Jem is probably the first order of business (sorry Jem). It has a mind of it's own. Making a proper cord for it is also high on the list.

Hopefully someone else shot this but, here's a brief highlight from FLEM:

    Wow did it look good.

A bit late but finally at a computer sitting down and not on mobile device!

My first FLEM! By random chance I was able to make this event and it was great! It was a bit odd -- given that I'm used to SELEM events ever since attending one with long time friend Chris F.

Props to DZ and EK on the router -- it's beautiful! And thanks for showing it to us. Thanks to Ball, Aaron and Alexi and other dude from Pango (sorry if mispelled) from Pangolin for the look into the future! Neat stuff as always.

Thanks to Laserjock for another awesome first experience, aka, the flight! Very neat!

Thanks to Count Funkula. Just when it was all black box Chinese built Lightspace projectors (and a beautiful Kvant) Count rolls in with some whitelight ions and power connectors that fit stove outlets. Keepin' it real :-)

It was great seeing everyone again, it was great meeting new people and getting a chance to get to know people a bit more! Thanks to the people that hauled out all of the hardware, I know it's an insane amount of work that often goes unnoticed! 1/4th my life goes to MAGFest every year and it takes months before everything is back in place.

I've got an idea up my sleeve for SELEM, I'm going to work to see if it's possible. Home-brew and never (to my knowledge) done before. ;-)

It's funny you mention that... Brad and I were talking on Saturday, and I mentioned that I hadn't yet put up the black felt we normally use to block the light from the windows. Brad pointed out that we had so much power now that it didn't matter that light was coming through the windows! We could still see the beams easily.

In fact, putting a bunch of black cloth up might actually pose a fire hazard! Amazing how far we have come in just a few years...

I guess that's one less thing for me to pack for future FLEMs!
