Speaking of itinerary, I'm working on my personal "to accomplish at FLEM" list that I'm going to post here. I've got some fix/repair/brain pick projects I'm dragging along.

One of them is for ImageLight and I to sit with DZ and go over how to record the output of the Z-5 to wav files using his nifty converter box. I'd also like to do the same thing with other show files. I'd like to start converting shows in other software packages to wav's. For example, the Moncha, Fiesta, Showeditor, Phoenix, LSX, etc. Aside from big file sizes, there are some huge advantages to moving all of this to one set platform.

I'm bringing my partially completed mutha of all lumia rigs started by Jem for some analysis and ideas on how to finish it.

I'm bringing my CD2000 unit to test and confirm it works.

I may bring my partially finished 10+ watt blue/green projector for some serious completion work.

Will anyone have anything there I can use to test a Turbotrack amp to ensure it works?

Oh, and I thought it might be a good opportunity to legalize a Pluto and document it. (i.e. - add Stanwax board)

I don't know if we want to try and troubleshoot my 3 watt CT Lasers box and see if we can figure out why it's 25% down on power all the way around or not. Adam Raugh offered several months ago but we've never connected.

I'm sure I'll be coming up with more but, that's what I know off the top of my head.

    Hey FLEM attendee's....

Can anyone bring along a DB9 female to DB9 female null modem cable? I can't seem to find one anywhere in my stuff and I think I need to update the firmware on the CD2000 mentioned in the thread above.

Okay, long story short. RIF'ed at work so laid off tomorrow. So with this news I'm SERIOUSLY thinking about driving down to Key Largo early next week, trying to get a day or two of diving in, hitting my parents place in Florida (not terribly far from FLEM), and then hitting FLEM!! Why the hell not? I've pretty much convinced myself to do it.

Because the car will probably be mostly loaded with diving stuff, and everyone else has it covered, I won't bring my direct diode pluto IIs. That being said, I do have two Laser Power Corporation DPSS heads and power supplies. Does anyone coming happen to have high knowledge on these units? Happen to have components to test? It's the units that later became Melles Griot, but I don't think it's safe to intermix components given that parameters on the MG era stuff is stored in serial eprom in the head (good design.)

I have laptop w/ Beyond + FB3, and LSX 2 proj w/ 1 x RIYA Multibus. If needed let me know.

    Whoot!

Like you said... Why the hell not! Good attitude. And you know how crappy it's been up this way so, warm FL weather should be a welcomed relief. We didn't get a chance to preview your recovered ADAT's at CarribLEM so maybe we can see them at FLEM.

Sure, that'll be easy! Are you using Audacity in Windows XP? I'll have my laptop with win7 running N-Track, I can show you that as well.

I can bring my little LFI fiber head, it has a pair of G-120's in it.

Well..... I have Audacity on a couple Windows 7 machines and I think on an XP laptop. I think I have it on my main laptop which is Windows 8.1 as well. Do I need to bring the HD24? Or can we do this right to a computer?

No need for an HD24, I wouldn't bother bringing it. Did you end up buying one of the USBStreamers? If so, then you can record to desktop or laptop, windows or MAC. Here's the deal on Audacity, in Windows 7 the ASIO driver isn't included. I have a version that might work. If not and you want to stay on win7, then I'd recommend N-Track. The low end $50 version does everything I need.

If you don't have the USBStreamer I can show you how to do the recording with mine. The USBStreamer is about hundred bucks and worth every penny!

    Brad:

I'm down with riding the slingshot if you are. As for David's suggestion to hit Universal Islands of Adventure, the last time I did that was back in 2008 when I saw the Blue Man Group for the first time.

But yeah, it is a great park, and if I had more time (another day) I would do Universal again. (The best way to do it is to pay the extra money and get the park-hopper so you can do the Studio side too, and then pay extra for the express pass so you get head-of-line once on each ride. You can ride EVERYTHING in one day and still have time for a couple "do overs" on your favorites.)

Looking at your list of things to do at FLEM, it appears that DZ has them well in hand. Had a feeling most of them would be pretty simple. Regarding the Lumia rig and the 3 watt unit, we'll take a look at them in the kitchen and see what we can do. Same with the 10 watt blue green unit. Dunno if we'll get a Pluto done, but that would also be a nice project. I'll bring my collection of parts.

    Ethan:

Glad to hear you're going to make the trip, though the reason why you suddenly became available is rather sad. Hopefully something will turn up soon. But yeah, in the mean time you may as well have a little fun, right? Looking forward to seeing you again. I got nothing on the LPC DPSS heads, but if Flecom shows up I know he has experience with the Melles Griot units that spawned from you laser, so he may be able to offer some assistance.

    DZ:

Holy hell dude... You're going to be busy at FLEM! Then again, who needs sleep, right?

    Ed Keefe:

Are you going to bring any helicopters down on this trip? Just curious. (Toying with the notion of bringing my X3V CP bird - it's a 250 series but it's very forgiving.)

Man, a week from now I'll be in Orlando with Brad, and the day after that I'll be setting up for FLEM! Time flies...

    Adam

I looked at it but didn't buy it at the time since I got the sound card DAC working prior to Utila. I can get one ordered but, it won't be here in time for FLEM I'm afraid. Sounds like I should just plan to use one of the laptops with XP and keep it reserved for this project. I suppose I need to go back and re-read the sales thread to refresh my memory as to what I need.

Edit: Humm... I HAVE an E-MU somewhere I believe. I got it from Polishedball like 4 years ago and it's never been out of the box. Might that work?

    Of course.

Yeah, Universal was on my list for last FLEM but when I found out we could get in the venue early, I bailed on the idea. I really want to check out the Harry Potter part of the park. I know you told me it was just a revamp of some prior attractions but, I'd still like to hit it someday.

What gets done, gets done. What doesn't, doesn't. I'd rather have the stuff there if there proves to be time than have left it at home wishing I had brought it. You figure last year was more quads and Chris's plane rides than lasers anyway! lol

Yes but.... following that, the wait for SELEM will slow to a crawl!
