There is one other possibility... They make a DPSS red that lases at 671 nm, and from what little I've read about them it seems that they scale really well. So you might be able to get over a watt (or two) out of one. Not sure how they compare pricewise though.

I agree that most of the 635 nm diodes (the 500 mw ones) have pretty terrible beam specs when compared to other lasers.

Hey Marconi! We need a 1.5 watt maxymodule! Then we could combine two of them with a PBS cube and have 3 watts of lovely red.

Sigh... I don't think that's going to happen any time soon though.

just got the dot on a whall. it looks like a star...maby because the beam combiner is sooo small?? I have seen beam combiner as 10mm*10mm before..this looks like half of it. Maby 4mm*4mm This I cant use for graphics. Pictures tells it all

All Maxyz modules have that line going through it, when you combine the vertical and horizontal polarization you get the + pattern. It will not show up in graphics or beams.
