You could have the best of both worlds.
I've used this company for buying/selling hundreds of embroidered t-shirts: http://www.queensboro.com/
They're great because you can upload any image and they can embroider it, and the minimum order quantity is 4 units. And they offer all kinds of different t-shirt options: http://www.queensboro.com/t-shirts as well as pretty much any other clothing you can think of.
Chris;
Re: color - I was thinking about something similar to previous years. Either an RGB theme, or maybe a white-to-full-spectrum theme.
As for the larger argument about T-shirts vs Polos, there are some people who prefer T-shirts, but the majority want the polos. As for the color, I am considering offering two different choices, but I need to get some more information back from the supplier first. (No sense in offering this if it doubles the cost of the order.)
Hank: Queensboro has some great prices, but we need to be able to accommodate small through 4XL. Once you get into the polos that cover all those sizes, the price advantage disappears.

Thanks for doing this, Chris. I like the first one of this batch the most.

"Help, help, I'm being repressed!"
I like the original version better. adding the extra color is over complicating something that was nice and elegant.
I like the first one too. (That is, the first one of the series with added color. I think the original is a bit too bland, but then again, I like color!)
We still have some time yet, so we may get some more submissions. But eventually I'll start a poll thread and we can vote on our favorite.
