ID:	47872 Interesting " facet coatings" observation here ......Any chance of you sharing the results of those tests
I am curious ... how did you measure/detect this facet coating degeneration? and even more interesting is how you were able to rule out temperature as a possible cause !

    Hi!
Just post a pic of what we working with for the tests.
The temperature stability caused by a fullbridge tec driver and a easy mount...
You can measure the loss of the facetting by using a beamanalyzer and making a raymeasurement on different time settings.
You will see how the beamshape is going bader and bader, the power losses while the facetting getting burned.

Perhaps you should post your results of these tests Phil - if you want us to believe this is anything other than competition and sour grapes....

Can you post this data? I am very interested in the relationship of drive current to life time. Also, It would be interesting to know the COD point of some of the diodes we use.

It would be very beneficial to know if we drive these diodes at X current the life will be reduced by X time.

When the P73 is driven at 50hz 33% duty cycle at 1 watt peak (330mW ave) the life is 13K hours. This is the only data mistu will give. What if the freq was pushed to 5Khz?

ID:	47886Hi Phil,.... think you must have posted mistaken pic ...even if you used a spectrometer in the tests ...pic shows nothing useful!
Maybe you went out on a limb here, dunno!..... but this "facet degeneration" allegation has "got me knickers in a twist."
@Dave ......."sour grapes.... "...... this isn't sour grapes Dave IMHO ... it's a frigging slow fuse atom bomb! Click image for larger version.

If slightly over driving, a temp coddled, air conditioned, Mitsu is carcinogenic ! .... most of us have a wee problem under our bonnets!
Sorry 4 temporary thread hijack Jordi, ......... but this is extremely important to just about everyone on PL who uses P73's/Oclaros Click image for larger version.
