LM for my mind I think the normal PL state of play should prevail. I am sorry to Jem I should have read more carefully. But it is obvious he was 1st and I think it is only fair he can still pick this up for the quoted price. I am biased, I admit as I also put a "1st dibbs" on the 2.5W Melles Griot, and again I obviously think it is only fair play to honor this. If you more to sell then yes it would suggest you may get more putting them to auction. But play fair to Jem at least and honour his quick decision. Obviously my offer on the other laser still stands, but I am bowing out of this one to Jem and happy to take my place in the queue, but I don't think it will get beyond Jem. Just my 10p as to what I think is fair and right.

    Cheers

    Sir Jem,

How jolly nice of you to say, top hole old boy. Just what we were taught at Eaton and fair play on the rugga field. Lets hope those nice chaps at LM Productions do what is right and honor the offer made to their jolly reasonably priced adverts.

Cheero, you are such a pleasant chap

I'll go down there tonight and wave cash under Stephen's nose, then hawk them all to you lot at significant profit!

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

I agree. At least for the stuff currently listed. LMProductions should sell to those that have already offered to pay their posted price. Deciding after the fact that just because a lot of interest was shown to turn it into an auction shows piss poor form.

Ah, Eaton, I remember it well - The Yorkshire version of that well known institution down south known as *Eton*

Oh, and I do hope that it's Rugby League they're playing... Can't be doing with any of that mammy pamby 'Union" type of Rugby Lol

I find all this banter kind of spiffing

Yeah, +1.. Also gotta say.. I had sent a PM that had suggested, 'how about some more 'Tech info', here? ie: What does "good power" mean? 5W, out the window? More? Less? ...Does this Elite have the Internal-AO for blanking? (they only have reeealy-slow blanking, otherwise, like 10K, and TTL-only, iirc..

Also gotta say - Kinda 'insulting' to PL members - as though we're all just cheap-is-only-consideration-grubbing lemmings - to not post more detailed tech info.. Kinda frankly..

..and I doubt Spec will be too-keen on a '1st Post seller' playing a 'shell game' with people over Price.. I'd say, Honor the First-Posted Prices, or LMP should get a one way ticket to ClueX4landia..

Wow, what a surprise, it seems that LM have gone quiet on us? I feel deeply upset and embarrassed that with the community on PL constantly questioning the way in which some suppliers in the Far East do business and the way some companies use PL to spam special offers and promote bogus deals, that this is a UK company, with so many years in the industry scam this community in the way they have. As many of you know I originally "took a break" from the industry for nearly 20 years after many of the so called "reputable laser operators" used very bad and illegal tactics in the 80's to get business. I even had my life threatened once because someone wanted the same gig I had been quoting on. I had hoped that there would now be more respect and the laser business would be more business like, but I guess I was wrong

Like many of you I know feel I have fallen for a scam to promote an upcoming auction maybe? No replies from PMs and changed posts, this all seems very dodgy. There are so many great laser companies in the UK and great suppliers like Stanwax, AC Lasers etc. Please do not let this episode ruin our reputation in the UK. I am sure it will not, but this leaves a very sour taste in my mouth. I know we took this lightheartedly yesterday and had a bit of banter. But this is serious, in fact under UK law you could argue that they issued "an offer to treat" a legal term meaning if you offer something for sale for a price under certain circumstances then if the buyer complies with this you are obligated to sell the item to them. I am sure if the local trading standards were to get involved then they would look into this. But are LM worth the effort?

Also, to be fair and balanced, we do not know who this company is, many of us have drawn some conclusions based on the name and the fact the price was in GBP. But I have to say this post is not pointed towards any company which trades as LM anything or whatever. The new user could register and not even work for a real company or even be in the UK. So for this reason I would want readers to note this is a comment on the thread contents and in no way pointed at anyone else or any other company or organisation. I guess we may never know, but I think to be fair to anyone who trades with this or a similar name that conclusions could be drawn to the potential identity of the poster, but none are being drawn by me, other than the assumption the company is in the UK and the price was in GBP. Also we do not know if there were any unavoidable situations which has meant they cannot respond to posts or have been forced to edit posts for some unexplained reasons. I will let everyone else make their own mind up. But as anyone could register any user name in this anonymous Internet world it is only fair to point this out.

Sorry to rant, but sometimes the actions of the very small number of very unscrupulous people can make you question why you even bother. I guess you could complain to the auction site when they appear there, but would the auction site bother? I guess not Or we could boycott the auction, but then it just leaves someone to break ranks and they get a bargain.

No solution, just a chance to vent, sorry
