    was wondering what the optical properties were for the stock ball lens..

    been there tried that move on not worth it. You have to mount the ball ON the die of the laser. It is no possible out of a cleanroom with special adhesives. If you succeed you will have a tem00 beam on a single mode diode. You also lose a lot of power.

    Here is the bottom line. You can change the laws of physics. Stick to simple lens correction or get better lasers.
