Default Is there any 1450 nm or 1950 nm to be had?

I'm looking for some LD/LED emitters centered around these bands, no more than 100 nm wide. I can't seem to find much more than 2 mW available for $20 ea. Aren't there some pump LDs available in this range? I thought mid-IR would have been a common pump band, causing the 1970s USA government to fund the development of manufacture of billions of emitters in anticipation of the DPSS age.

    What gives?

I don't even need a good beam, just lots of light for a remote sensing application. Any ideas?

Roithener Lasertechnik does exotic wavelengths. However you may find some telcom LDs in the glass fiber transmission window down around 1490..

Let me know if you need some detectors for that region for rapidly pulsed signals, I have a few interesting surplus devices. However they wont respond to CW light, but have 400 Mhz bandwidths.
