laserscope Aura ?

I've been offered a laserscope Aura for a few hundred quid .. I think it's working and will have the ability to test it (though I will need to fake / override the handpiece detection).

I'm fairly naive about pricing, though .. is this a good deal ?

It's a 532nm laser producing 10W CW, so £500 is probably a good price, if you need the power. Are you local to the seller? He's just up the road from me (literally) and I've bought a few bits from him previously, he seems like a nice enough guy.

Yes, i'm local to him too and have bought a few things from him before.

As to whether I need the power .. I should really work on my bigger YAG, but this one's so compact and modern by comparison ..

Yes, it sure looks like a compact unit; no idea what the beam quality will be like once you've ditched the fibre launcher, but I would guess that it would be fairly decent. Better buy it quick before I'm tempted

These have been around a long time. Is it arc lamp powered or diode?

It's CW and air cooled, so I would guess it's DPSS. Unfortunately, the seller decided to double his price suddenly, so I doubt it will be sold in the near future.

The Auras I've heard about are single phase lamp pumped. But since AMS keeps reusing names, you. Probably have to check on a model by Model basis.

The listing has now vanished without trace, doesn't even appear in sold or ended listings! I suspect ebay are having a purge on lasers, I think only ebay themselves have the power to make a lsiting vanish without trace, and the number of listings returned in my standard searches dropped dramatically this week.

Check your search terms, I just found two of them over 7,500 USD in the UK...
Not seeing a decrease in laser listings on Ebay USA, I just checked...

My bet is the seller got Epay to disappear the listing. They will do that for all the right made up reasons....
