i actually like some of bourgeois' work quite a bit. that doesn't make me a child molester. her spider sculpture is quite interesting as it's an interpretation of her mother who was a weaver and repaired tapestries.. this ties nicely into navajo mythology of spider woman teaching the dine' how to weave.
would i hang "arch of hysteria" in my house? no, but it's a fascinating piece that's clearly designed to provoke an emotional response and discussion. it's quite a successful piece.
